Converse. Get Out of The Garage. Top 10.

It is finally here, the Top 10 acts in the Converse Get Out of the Garage campaign have been announced. And my oh my are they one great selection. The competition, choosing some of South Africa’s finest unsigned talent from a variety of music genre saw over 135 acts submitting diverse music offerings from punk rock to deep house. Then judges, Zulu Boy, Jon Savage and Garrick Williams narrowed down all these hopefuls…

The top 10 bands hail from Cape Town, Johannesburg and Pretoria and represent  diverse music genres Think some rock in the form of Goodnight Wembley, Swart, IScream, Savage Lucy and the Chocolate Stix as well as some Folk and Electric in the form of Matthew Mole and Nakhane Toure Shotgun Tori, not to fogert some Kwaito, Reggae in the form of  Skin2Soul, all topped off by some electro goodness in the form of The Kiffness.

The top prize for the top band? Performing at London’s iconic 100 Club, a venue that has played host to a multitude of artists and genres, and has maintained its status as the longest running popular music venue in the world.
