U2. South Africa. February 2011.

So it’s officially official, U2 are coming to South Africa next year. Bono, the man who made excessive sunglass wearing cool and the rest of the band are back after their tour here in 1998. They’ll be performing in Johannesburg on February 11th and in Cape Town on February18th and they will be putting the  Soccer World Cup Stadiums to good use. Ticket prices start at R161 with the most expensive being R696 for reserved seats and the mad rush for tickets will start on the 23rd of October.

I must admit I’m rather apathetic about all this. I know, I know, it’s U2 but I’ve never been much of fan, although from the response the news has garnered many simply cannot wait. Where do you stand? Happy?  Neutral? Or too excited for words?

xx

meh… U2 have to be one of the most consistently over rated rock bands ever. Used to be good… not anymore. WAY WAY WAY better stuff out there that should be making its way to our shores. Having said that after the last Big Concerts fiasco U2 are a sure bet for covering your costs….

I cant wait!!! We’ve waited far to long for them to return.

To make it even sweeter, U2 are expected to release a new album early next year as well!! You can find more over at my blog (www.jasonkeith.co.za). Perhaps we’ll get to hear all the new songs as well?

  3. You know what?… I’m pretty sure I paid nearly R200 for my tickets during the Pop Mart tour, so those prices seem pretty good!

I also became dehydrated during one of the support acts because of queuing in the blazing african sun for 2 days to secure a spot on the barrier. I ended up watching most the gig from the medic bay… until they kicked me out and then I missed the rest. Still annoyed about it ’til this day because Pop is the best thing they ever did in my opinion.
