Ovi Music and Ovi Music Unlimited now live in South Africa.

Remember when the Nokia Music Store launched last year? Overall the response was good but left a few niggling questions, such as why wasn’t it compatible with Firefox? and most importantly why wasn’t the music DRM-free? Roughly a year later  Ovi Music emerged, with a new look and plenty new features.

Users will be happy to know, the store now compatible with Firefox and Safari as well as the fact the music is now DRM-free – which means now you can finally add it to your music player of choice. It also boasts a catalogue of more than 6 million tracks from local and international artists, and all tracks purchased are presented in MP3 format at 320 kb/s which ensures music of the highest quality. Many will also be happy to see that in the ‘Try These’ section, artists such as The Black Keys, The Dead Weather and Deftones are in between the likes of Drake, 3OH!3 and Eminem.

All those with the Comes With Music service need not worry, say hello to Ovi Music Unlimited, which is the same service under a different name and still allows users to enjoy unlimited track downloads from the rich Ovi Music catalogue for a specified subscription period, plus your all downloaded tracks can be kept and enjoyed.

I’ve just tried out the new improved store and I’m more than impressed, actually, I’m going to be spending the rest of the day making use of the Ovi Music Unlimited service!

Get going, a world of music awaits!
