Thieve, Going For Gold.

Thieve band

“Charisma made audible.”

Take ex members of New Loud Rockets,(Philip), Ashtray Electric (Andrew), and Die Helde (Fred) and you’ve got Thieve.

Speaking of when Andrew and bassist Jacko were trying to get Thieve up and running, Andrew said “not many people believed in a project with a couple rough ideas, but after a few toots I convinced Phil to jump on board and Fred soon followed.”

The band then had the opportunity to record with the support of  Jaco ‘Snakehead’ Venter from Fokofpolisiekar. He later involved friends Hunter Kennedy and Pierre Greeff, from Die Heuwels Fantasties, who signed them to their indie label, Supra Familias

Their first single Last Day December first appeared on the Bellville Rock City (2008). Andrew said being featured on the BRC package “was obviously a great opportunity and served as a well needed platform. Although there was a certain amount of shit we had to deal with, not having gigged yet or having an album, a few people felt slightly sour…”

The single is available for free download and has been a hit with fans and critics alike.

Although the band selected to limit their live performances prior to the release of their debut album, they made special guest appearances at aKING and Ashtray Electric’s album launches to give crowds a sneak-peak.

The band’s debut album Gold will hit the shelves on 19 October 2009. Johnny De Ridder and the guys from Die Heuwels Fantasties lent a hand in mixing and producing the album. After the album has been released they plan to “tour, tour, tour…”

It looks as if Thieve will follow in the footsteps of many other successful bands hailing from Bellville (the hub of the music industry-or so it seems).
