It different, slower and typical to the xx’s “enigmatic and moody” sound. Overall it’s an amazing cover.

Of course, Florence and the Machine’s version is also a cover of the original by The Source featuring Candi Staton, which got to number 4 in 1991 and number 3 (remix) in 1997 (UK).
As with many of these things, the original probably trumps them all. Old Skool.
