Get ready for Rocking The Daisies and Rocking The Gardens

Which festival “[incorporates] innovative environmentally conscious products into the festival and spreads the message of ‘play hard, tread lightly’?

Yup, you guessed it, it’s  Rocking the Daisies.

Just so Johannesburg won’t miss out on the fun, Complete Events in partnership with Oppikoppi Productions, are bringing Rocking the Daisies to Johannesburg in the form of Rocking the Gardens on the 3rd of October.

Rocking the Daisies takes place in Cape Town from the 9-11 of October at the Cloof Wine Estate in Darling.

The festival is eco friendly and if you choose to walk to the festival you’ll get a free ticket (it’ll be worth the pain, promise)! Tony Budden-green consultant to the festival-says “This year our aim is to make the green initiatives much more visual and integrated into the festival so that the festival-goers can all experience them first hand.”

Once there you can view a map on how to get to the festival, ticket and festival information, line-up, greening info and download selected tracks, wallpapers and videos straight to your phone. Now you have no excuse to get lost (or not to have the best ringtone at the festival)!

The search for SA’s hottest undiscovered bands continues with Rocking the Daisies, Red Bull and Speakerbox.co.za. Two of the Red Bull RADAR 2008 finalists, Reburn and The Plastics – last year’s winners – will feature on the 2009 line up.

With the likes Just Jinjer, Prime Circle, aKING, Ashtray Electric, Dan Patlansky and many more performing, you’re spoiled for choice with the best musicians from each genre represented.

If all that isn’t enough, there will also be the Red Bull electro tent; as well as a dedicated comedy tent featuring the best of SA comedy that will (hopefully) keep you grinning from ear to ear.

The festival in general is being ramped up to make the experience that much more fun and enjoyable for you; examples include: “More drainage ditches to ensure there is less mud; a park and camp policy to ensure easy entry and exit in case of emergencies; more efficient ticketing stalls to ensure you get into the festival area with minimal fuss; more toilets; bigger and more prominent recycling bins; a dedicated day care facility for kids and much, much more.”

With over 10 000 people attending last year and many more expected this year, Rocking the Daisies 2009 looks to be bigger and better full of “cutting edge, quality music, interactive art fields and facilities aimed to cater for everyone from child care to comedic relief…”

You excited yet? You should be!
