Passion Pit
Passion Pit has been be compared to the likes of MGMT and Hot Chip with their electronic/pop sound. The band was started by Michael Angelakos wrote and recorded all the music himself, enlisting four more musicians (Ian Hultquist), Ayad Al Adhamy, Jeff Apruzzese and Nate Donmoyer) for his live band.
Passion Pit formed in late 2007. Originally, Michael Angelakos had started Passion Pit as a project in order to write a few songs for his girlfriend as a Valentine’s Day present. Almost instantaneously they had a record deal, a free download on iTunes, and gigs opening up for bands like Girl Talk and Death Cab for Cutie.
They also recently finished recently finished ninth in the BBC “Sound of 2009” poll which was ‘surprising’ to the band as at the time they didn’t have a single release in the U.K. and hadn’t even toured there.
The band’s first full-length studio album, Manners, was released in late May 2009 and ClashMusic.com commented that the album “has every chance to rank as one of the year’s best”.
It seems Passion Pit after receiving many accolades look headed for an even bigger success.
