Noel Gallagher has officially left Oasis
Noel Gallagher has left Oasis. It’s official. In his statement he says: “It’s with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis… I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer…”
It cannot be said that it is a shock to Oasis fans as Noel and Liam have had a tumultuous relationship over the years and have made it publically known.
The band’s spokesperson commented, “We are all just so sad that it has come to an end.” Oasis’ internal rift between Noel and Liam Gallagher emerged earlier this year. At that time, Noel said he was fed up with his brother because “he’s rude, arrogant, intimidating and lazy.”
During a NME interview, Liam said of Noel, “Maybe he needs to go away and do his own thing. He’s obviously not happy, is he?” the interviewer then asked Liam if he was saying Noel should do a solo album. Liam’s response was “If it makes him happy, yeah, if it makes him happy.”
Oasis were the defining band of a generation, their moment came and went in the Nineties; since then they have never really reached the same level of success that they achieved with their first two albums.
I a saddened to hear the news but am glad I managed to see Oasis live.
