Prime Circle: All or Nothing album review
My review of the album was featured on Overtone a few weeks ago so I thought I’d post it here as well…
Captivating lyrics, Ross’s distinctive vocals as well as a mixture of catchy riffs and hooks make Prime Circle’s new offering ‘All Or Nothing’ easy listening and their most anticipated offering yet. ‘All Or Nothing’ has everything you could want from a Prime Circle album, there are many recognisable elements from their previous albums; their driving riffs, intricate hooks and simple melodies combined with an emotional rawness that comes through in ballads such as ‘“Find A Way” and make such songs hard to forget, let alone turn off.
Working with rock producer Theo Crous, who has worked with acts like aKING and the Dirty Skirts, has taken Prime Circle’s sound to a new level – ensuring they sound like top class international rock acts. Prime Circle ventures into the slightly harder aspect of their rock sound with standout tracks like ‘All Or Nothing’ which is comparable to the likes of international acts such as Nickelback and Seether, the band also explores new territory with slow tempo ballads such as ‘She Always Gets What She Wants’ and ‘Hey Now’.
In general on this album Prime Circle stick to their successful formula, a melodic pop-rock sound. ‘All or Nothing’ showcases all the band has to offer and cements the fact that Prime Circle is a band at the forefront of the South African rock scene and they are one of the best the scene has to offer.
