Interview with The Mission District
“The Mission District was formed during the Summer of 2004 by David Rancourt (vocals), Travis Barfoot (guitar) and Rob Rousseau (guitar). After a few line-up changes, The Mission District started spreading their dream pop to the masses.
The band has played several notable shows throughout central and eastern Canada, performing with such acts as: Elbow, Islands, The Duke Spirit and the Meligrove Band. They also just came off a tour with Simple Plan, so they are definitely making a name for themselves..”
I caught up with David and we talked about choosing the band name, the new things happening and the new single…
So why’d did you pick the band name? My family on my moms side is from San Francisco and the Mission District is a nostalgic neighborhhod there where I spent a lot of time when I was out there visiting friends and family…
How did the band meet? Rob, Trav and I were in a previous band together called Full Count and started the Mission District when Full Count stopped…I’ve known Antoine forever and he joined quickly after the band started….Mike and Evan joined a little later in the process…
What are the new things happening? We’ve just toured with Simple Plan in the UK….our single hits the Uk in March, album in May, everything in North America will happen a little after
What would you like to achieve in the music industry? To become the biggest band in the world..(laughs)
So what’s the new single your releasing (or will it be a surprise)? ‘So Over You (new version)’
Do you have a favorite song from the album? Heartbreaker
Are you touring anytime soon? Yes, well have some Canadian dates and UK dates early this year..
Who takes the longest to get ready before a gig? (laughs) Antoine and I both…
Are any of you working on side projects? Not at the moment..
Who talks the most rubbish (at any given moment)? Probably Mike!
